8 • Scanning color negatives

ColorQuartet 5.0 Pro

• To check whether the shadow point found by ColorQuartet is actually part of the image and

not, for example, a scratch in the negative, open the densitometer window, choose Point Sam-

ple, click on the black square, and observe the location of the cursor in the feedback window.

• When Fixed Density is activated, the shadow point can be set manually. Drag the relevant histo-

gram as explained under “

Advanced features in the ‘Negative Proﬁle’ window.” Or type in the

desired value in the None field for the relevant channel (Red, Green or Blue) in the Exposure

Densities section.
